Renting a storage unit is a simple decision once you know what to look for. Whether you choose us or another facility, these are the questions we believe every customer should ask before signing. Work through them, then compare the answers.

1. Is the facility secure?
Ask what is actually in place, not just whether it is secure. At Self Storageland: 24-hour CCTV over entrances, exits, units and common areas; controlled access with entries and exits logged; security patrols; bright lighting; perimeter fencing; fire alarms and emergency procedures. 2. When can I get to my things?
Check opening and access times against when you are likely to visit. We are open from 09:00 Monday to Friday and 09:00 to 12:00 on Saturday. We are closed on Sundays and public holidays.
3. What size and type of unit do I need?
Make an inventory and ask the staff to recommend a size. Ask whether climate-controlled units are available for sensitive items. Our unit sizes page explains the general categories.
4. What does the rental agreement say?
Read it before signing. Make sure you understand:
- The rate and how often it is payable
- Any deposit and how it is refunded
- What happens if a payment is late
- How much notice you need to give
- Which items are prohibited
- Safety rules and how waste is handled
5. Am I covered?
Check whether your home or contents policy covers stored items, or ask the facility about insurance options. At Self Storageland you can ask about insurance options when you visit.
6. How do I pay and move in?
Ask about payment methods; existing tenants at Self Storageland can pay online. Ask whether packing supplies and move-in transport are available, and what the transport fee is. Ours is quoted upfront.
